Background of the Study

Stress in the workplace is a major concern that affects employees’ mental and physical well-being, leading to decreased productivity, burnout, and job dissatisfaction. Stress management education aims to equip employees with coping strategies, including mindfulness, time management, and relaxation techniques (WHO, 2024).

In Niger State, high job demands, limited resources, and workplace pressure contribute to stress among employees. Despite efforts by organizations to introduce stress management programs, their effectiveness in improving job performance remains uncertain (Ibrahim & Yusuf, 2024). This study investigates how stress management education influences employees’ job performance in Niger State.

Statement of the Problem

Workplace stress negatively affects employee performance, increasing absenteeism and reducing productivity. Many employees in Niger State experience high stress levels due to workload, job insecurity, and poor work-life balance (Adepoju & Salami, 2024). Although some organizations implement stress management education programs, their impact on job performance is unclear.

This study examines the effectiveness of stress management education in enhancing employee well-being and job performance.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the level of awareness and adoption of stress management education among employees in Niger State.
  2. To evaluate the impact of stress management education on job performance.
  3. To identify challenges affecting the implementation of stress management education programs.

Research Questions

  1. What is the level of awareness and adoption of stress management education in Niger State?
  2. How does stress management education influence job performance?
  3. What challenges hinder the implementation of stress management education programs?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Stress management education has no significant impact on employees’ awareness of coping strategies.
  2. There is no significant relationship between stress management education and job performance.
  3. Implementation challenges do not significantly affect the effectiveness of stress management education programs.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study focuses on employees across various industries in Niger State, evaluating the impact of stress management education on job performance. Limitations include differences in workplace environments, individual stress tolerance levels, and variations in program effectiveness.

Definitions of Terms
